We have been offering telc language exams at speakeasy for many years. Speakeasy is an accredited exam centre. For this very reason, we have a wealth of experience when it comes to organising and carrying out language exams. Which telc level is right for you?

The telc exams at speakeasy Stuttgart are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

What do you need to know?

At A1 level, you should be able to understand and produce simple everyday sentences – for example: introducing yourself, asking for directions, or handling small purchases.
Around 100 hours of lessons are usually enough to reach this level. Grammar mistakes are still normal at this stage.

The telc Deutsch A1 certificate is often required for family reunification (spouse visa).

telc Deutsch A2 / Start Deutsch A2

What skills do I need for the telc Deutsch A2 language exam?

The telc Deutsch A2 exam is suitable for anyone who has completed approximately 250–300 teaching hours. At this level, you should be able to communicate in typical everyday situations and hold short conversations – for example, in a work context or while shopping. Additionally, you should be able to use basic grammatical structures correctly.

What is the structure of the telc Deutsch A2 exam?

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written section lasts a total of 70 minutes, while the oral section takes approximately 11 minutes.

What do you need to know?

At B1, you should be able to talk about familiar topics like family, hobbies, work and travel – and also comment on current events.
You can have connected conversations and understand longer texts.

The telc Deutsch B1 certificate is often required for German citizenship or vocational training.

How is the exam structured?

Written and oral parts. Before the oral part, you get 20 minutes to prepare and take notes.

telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege

What Skills Do I Need for the telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege Language Exam?

The telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege exam is specifically designed for individuals working in the healthcare sector or planning to pursue a career in this field in a German-speaking country. It provides healthcare professionals with the opportunity to officially certify their job-related German language skills at levels B1 and B2 – an essential requirement for employment in hospitals, care facilities, or other healthcare services.

This is a dual-level exam, meaning it assesses language skills at both B1 and B2 levels simultaneously. The exam is ideal for those whose language proficiency lies between these two levels or for individuals who are progressing toward the higher level but have not yet achieved full confidence.

Important: Partial exams are not possible. This means that if one part of the exam is not passed, the entire exam must be retaken, even if one section has already been successfully completed.

Structure of the telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege Exam

The exam consists of two parts: a written and an oral section. Detailed time allocations for each part are listed in the table below. Additionally, you will have 20 minutes of preparation time before the oral exam to familiarize yourself with the tasks and take notes.

telc Deutsch B2 exam

What do you need to know?

At B2, you should be able to express yourself fluently and spontaneously – even on abstract topics – and argue and negotiate confidently.
This certificate is often needed for applying to apprenticeships or further education.
Some universities also accept the B2 certificate as proof of language skills – but always check directly with your university.

How is the exam structured?

Reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and an oral part. Before the oral exam, you have 20 minutes of preparation time.

What do you need to know?

At C1, you can express yourself spontaneously, clearly and in a nuanced way – even on complex topics.
You understand demanding texts and make very few mistakes.

This certificate is especially important for university admission and job applications.

Important: If you want to study at a German university, you usually need the specific telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule exam.
